The Project

At Establish, we believe every survivor deserves healing, safety, and hope for the future. Through federal and state partnerships, and with the support of our local community, we’ve created programs that equip everyday people to make a lasting difference.

THE PROBLEM:

  • Human Trafficking is an ongoing and pervasive crisis in Hawai’i.

  • 1 in 11 adult males on Oʻahu were estimated to be sex buyers.

  • In 2021, 60% of clients recorded in Hawaiʻi’s Trafficking Victims Assistance Program database were confirmed trafficked.

  • More than half of those were children.

(Roe-Sepowitz & Jabola-Carolus, 2020 & Amina et al., 2022)

Free Trainings

Our free trainings are designed for everyday individuals and program professionals who are engaging or willing to engage in supporting survivors. They provide practical tools to support survivors in daily interactions, build compassionate support networks, and empower parents and caregiver to create safe and supportive environments. Explore which training is right for you!

Hānai Connections

This program moves from training to action, pairing trained community members (Supporters) one-on-one with survivors to provide steady, safe relationships. Participants who have completed our Walking Alongside Training can become lifelong mentors, offering guidance and a reliable presence in a survivors' daily life.

Trauma Assessments

In partnership with Ola Hou Clinic, we provide validated, trauma-informed assessments to identify trafficking victimization and guide care planning. Conducted by trained clinicians and supervised by a licensed psychologist, this service is available at no cost thanks to support from a local community grant. Assessments can be requested by service providers or self-referring adults.

Everyday People Can Make a Difference.

JOIN US!

Every survivor deserves safety, healing, and hope. But many lack consistent housing, mentorship, and trauma-informed care. Our courses equip you to fill those critical gaps, so survivors have the community they need to thrive.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Gain foundational knowledge to identify signs of human trafficking.

  • Understand trauma responses and offer compassionate support.

  • Build trusting relationships with survivors who’ve experienced betrayal and violence.

  • Collaborate with a statewide network of trained women and families

  • Prevent burnout by practicing self-care and boundaries
